With the continuous development of science and technology, LEDs are playing an increasingly important role in the LED lighting field as a new type of semiconductor light source, who have a series of advantages such as energy saving and environmental protection, high luminous efficiency, long life, high safety, and low infrared radiation.

The most impressive feature of LED lamps is their long lifespan, which can theoretically reach 50,000 or even 100,000 hours. However, the following points are the main factors that    affect the life span according to the experiments. 

Damaged LED driver 

For the LED lighting fixtures, , the LED source and LED driver are placed very close to each other in a limited volume. What's more, the heat emitted by the LED is very high during the process of working. Some components are very sensitive to heat. If the heat dissipation design of the lamp is unreasonable , or the quality of components is not up to standard, the damage of the Led driver in use will be very frequent.

However, due to the unreasonable design of the heat dissipation structure or the defects in the manufacturing process of the lamp bead module of many lamps, the LED source would be damaged after a period of use.

Light decay

It means that after a period of use of the LED lamp, the light intensity will be lower than the initial light intensity and cannot be restored, that is, the reduced part is called the light decay. It has become a serious defect of LED lighting products due to the unrecoverable nature.

Color temperature drift

Color temperature drift means that after a period of use of the LED lamp, with the effect of the thermal mechanism, the color temperature of the LED lamp no longer maintains the original white light color temperature. Then the color temperature of the lamp is not only reduced, but also increased.

In a word, manufacturers are required to select high-quality components from the selection of components, strengthen the heat dissipation design of the product, strictly control the production process and reduce manufacturing defects as well as the occurrence of various failures. As a user, we should also pay attention to the  use environment of LED lamps and regularly clean the dust of the lamps, so that our lamps can be kept in the best condition to increase the LED lights lifespan.
